roller shutter production cost

Roller shutter production cost should be calculated per sellable curtain or square meter, not only per meter of slat. Material utilization, slat weight, labor, accessories, assembly, scrap and machine availability all influence the commercial result.

A realistic ROI model connects the slat line to the whole door-production workflow. A fast former does not create return if assembly, orders or downstream parts limit finished shipments.

Calculate material cost

Use coil price, strip width, slat geometry and finished weight. Include threading loss, coil remnants, setup scrap, rejects and protective packaging. Compare alternative steel or aluminum specifications only when they meet the same finished-product requirement.

Add conversion and assembly cost

Include operators for forming, inspection, stacking and curtain assembly. Add electricity, compressed air, punching consumables, cut-off tooling, maintenance and factory overhead. Side guides, bottom slats, shafts, motors and locks belong in the finished-door calculation.

Model usable production capacity

Convert stable line speed into good slats per shift after coil changes, profile changes, breaks and inspection. Then calculate how many complete shutters the plant can assemble. Use the actual sales mix of widths and lengths rather than one ideal product.

Evaluate payback and risk

Compare in-house contribution and any outsourcing savings with delivered investment, tooling, training and working capital. Test demand, metal price, scrap and utilization scenarios. A project with a slightly longer conservative payback can be safer than one relying on continuous maximum output.

Project specification checklist

A dependable proposal must be based on the actual profile drawing, material specification, production mix and acceptance criteria. YCS evaluates each project as an engineered production system. Review the roller shutter machine solutions or send your technical requirements to YCS Machinery.

Frequently asked questions

Should ROI use slat output or finished doors?

Finished-door output is normally more meaningful because it captures assembly and component constraints.

How does scrap affect payback?

Metal is a major cost, so even a small sustained scrap change can materially alter annual contribution and payback.
